I feel like every year we're getting a few steps closer to our demise like in the movie iRobot. Scientist though are increasingly excited over these developments. Well going in line with the Ray Kurtzweil prediction of human and computer singularity by 2045 (after computers have surpassed human intelligence, computers and humans will be merged, someway some how...go and read the book and explain it to me) IBM and five universities will team together to try and team together to develop computers like the human brain. This is a step forward for computer processing in terms of decision making and problem solving.

The resulting technology could be used for large-scale data analysis, decision making or even image recognition.

"The mind has an amazing ability to integrate ambiguous information across the senses, and it can effortlessly create the categories of time, space, object, and interrelationship from the sensory data," says Dharmendra Modha, the IBM scientist who is heading the collaboration.

Of course this project will not happen over night, but as a study breaker, you see the changes before they officially happen. What do you think, be scared now, later or never?
